Creating a Bridge Abutment with Precast Concrete SRWs (Redi-Rock)

Redi-Rock offered the ideal solution for a bridge abutment project in Tumwater, WA that required durabilty and aesthetic appeal. The Redi-Rock gravity wall and accompanying columns and railings exceeded the City’s expectations. David Earl with Puget Sound Precast guides us through the project installed by Active Construction, Inc.

The construction of the Redi-Rock gravity walls used solid 60-inch, 41-inch and 28-inch blocks topped with freestanding blocks and caps. Wrought iron fencing was integrated into the top of the wall between columns to enhance the wall's visual appeal. Redi-Rock blocks allowed the wall to follow the road's continual grade change. The installation took only two weeks to complete and the City was extremely pleased with the durability and aesthetics of the Redi-Rock walls.
