Georgia's Truth in Nature Elevates Entrance with Redi-Rock Freestanding Blocks and Support from Piedmont Precast

The Challenge: Replacing a Barrier with a Better Welcome

In Rockmart, Georgia, Truth in Nature helps mentor fatherless boys through faith-based outdoor experiences. But before participants could enjoy the program, they had to pass through an aging cattle gate that didn't reflect the organization's mission and, frankly, scared them away.

To create a more welcoming first impression, Truth in Nature partnered with Take it Outside, a local nonprofit that leads community improvement projects. With a donation of Redi-Rock freestanding wall blocks from Georgia Redi-Rock producer Piedmont Precast, the team transformed the entrance into a professional, inviting space.

Why Redi-Rock? Building an Entrance That Reflects the Mission

Redi-Rock freestanding retaining wall blocks in the Ledgestone finish were selected for the project to construct two separate column and wall sections. Completed, the project features:

  • Two 8 ft (2.4 m) Redi-Rock Freestanding Columns, about 1.5 ft (0.45 m) of block embedded in the soil
  • Two Redi-Rock Freestanding wall sections constructed with 3-sided freestanding blocks and column blocks
  • Complimentary paver driveway, also donated by Piedmont Precast, featuring 1500 sq ft (139 sq m) of Rosetta Hardscape’s permeable Old Mission Pavers
  • Integrated softscapes and lighting to give additional warmth and welcome to the entry

Redi-Rock and Rosetta Hardscapes’ precast solutions worked seamlessly, with compatible installation methods and natural stone textures creating a cohesive finished design while simplifying construction for Maxwell Landscape Construction.

As a result, the team completed the entire project from start to finish in just five days.

“Piedmont encouraged us to use the two products [Redi-Rock Freestanding and Rosetta Hardscapes Old Mission Pavers] together for simplicity and speed for installation, and that’s what we were looking for. It was our first time using Redi-Rock, and it was a good scenario for us to try it out.”

In a video created by Take it Outside to highlight the project, Truth in Nature Executive Director Jeff Davis shares, “First impressions are everything. So when a new boy, a new mom, a new mentor comes into our program, they come through these gates, and it automatically gives them that feeling of comfort.”

With support from Take it Outside and a donation of hardscape materials from Piedmont Precast, Truth in Nature transformed its front entrance into a welcome that better reflects its mission. The new entryway provides a professional first impression for families today and a long-term, durable solution that will serve future generations of participants.
